Le Roi des Citrons

The oldest lemon syrup…

from France dates back to 1872. That year, Félix Bigallet brewed the first non-alcoholic Citronade in his distillery in Lyon. The original recipe has been successfully unchanged for over 150 years. Bigallet's Citronade is a wonderfully fresh base syrup for lemonade and cocktails. When Bigallet merged with Jinot's brewery, it wasn't just visible in the company name Bigallet & Jinot, but also in the range. Jinot's unique Citronade recipe has since been sold under the name Citron Jinot acidulé. This slightly acidic lemonade is at least as popular as Bigallet's original Citronade. After the Citronades, a good number of other lemon syrups followed. That's why Bigallet is also called 'le Roi des Citrons'; the king of lemon syrups and liqueurs.

The Citron Jinot (Lemon) syrup is slightly sour and wonderfully fresh. The Citron Doux is softer in taste, and we place the Citron Vert (Lime) with its fresh, sour taste on the other side of the taste palette. Bartenders and mixologists use them in various alcoholic and non-alcoholic thirst quenchers and aperitifs. Since 1996, Bigallet has also produced 100% organic syrups. The brewery was already 25 years ahead of its time. One of the popular organic flavors is Citron, brewed from 100% ingredients from certified organic farming.

The youngest members of the citrus flavor range are syrups with no added sugars; Citron sans sucre ajouté and Citron Vert sans sucre ajouté. Both flavors are very fresh and sour and fantastic thirst quenchers after a warm exertion. Moreover, these syrups contain hardly any calories and very little sugar, making them an excellent fit for a healthy lifestyle.
